After I’ve put up the tree and decorated for Christmas, I love to work on a puzzle during the weeks to keep me busy…and drive myself insane. It’s tradition! This year’s puzzle is another great Goodwill find – brand new and unopened – by the Great American Puzzle Factory. The illustration is by John Holladay circa 1987 of a blissful snowy day on the ski slopes. And yes a lot of white to stir the crazy talk inside my head: “Wha? I’m totally missing edge pieces!” “Okay, now this piece certainly doesn’t belong to this puzzle…oh wait…it fits right here…nevermind.” It is no wonder that Irene begs me to stop collecting puzzles already! So fun and I think I recognize some of those dudes.
We met thrifty gals and shopped 3 Goodwill stores today! Irene loved dishing with the ladies at lunch the best! I don’t have everyone’s info – sorry! DeeAnna, Lisa, another DeeAnna!, Elaine all found fabulous treasures.
I already found this lazy susan at another Goodwill store to use on our craft table and I kept looking for some containers to fit in the circle indentations to hold our supplies. The Stapleton location had tons of canning jars so 6 of these tall “quilted crystal” jars at 49 cents hold our tools wonderfully!
At the Parker/Belleview location, we found this Ikea mini greenhouse for $4.50 (originally $14.99) so I can keep my favorite herbs growing all year ’round.
Irene found chapter books, a soft dress, and a cute scalloped-edge wooden container that is drying after she painted it with a sweet summer scene.
While Irene eats an advent calendar chocolate for breakfast every morning, it isn’t the holiday season at my home unless you are working on a puzzle during the countdown to Christmas! Have a look at this new and unopened (no missing pieces!) Windswept Traveler puzzle I found at Goodwill.
It is all spread out on the dining table so I guess we’ll be eating in our laps or standing over the sink in the kitchen? oh well. There is a whole lotta white in this puzzle so thank goodness I have a 7 yr old to help me. Lucky Cricket sat down this morning all sleepy-eyed and immediately put together several pieces I had been wrestling with.
I have to be careful to limit my daily exposure to puzzles as they make me all cray-cray but eventually I get it all finished. 16 more days until Christmas!
This is a fantabulous thrift find at Goodwill – squee! Rosanna pottery hot chocolate cups and saucers. And as you can see they work excellently as well holding ice cream sundaes – love the salvidor dali melting chocolate chip cookie. The pottery delightfully has the words hot chocolate in several languages.
It was 63 today! And as you can see, the snow is almost all melted – just in time for new snow expected next week. I checked the email this morning and see Goodwill is 50% off again Saturday! I also got a bit sidetracked clicking a link to a blog and then onto another blog and another with everyone posting the awesome stylish clothes they were wearing and hey! I can do that too! but… I had to get off the computer and off to lucky cricket’s school. I don’t have time rightthisminute to link to anything as I am crazy busy with school work myself. So about the clothes: Japanese silk scarf from stylish neighbor’s garage sale, Ann Taylor cashmere sweater from Goodwill, Mountain Hardware La Rambia skirt at REI, Nine West Lautman shoes from 6pm’s New Year clearance sale.
