After I’ve put up the tree and decorated for Christmas, I love to work on a puzzle during the weeks to keep me busy…and drive myself insane. It’s tradition! This year’s puzzle is another great Goodwill find – brand new and unopened – by the Great American Puzzle Factory. The illustration is by John Holladay circa 1987 of a blissful snowy day on the ski slopes. And yes a lot of white to stir the crazy talk inside my head: “Wha? I’m totally missing edge pieces!” “Okay, now this piece certainly doesn’t belong to this puzzle…oh wait…it fits right here…nevermind.” It is no wonder that Irene begs me to stop collecting puzzles already! So fun and I think I recognize some of those dudes.
So we all bolted out at daybreak to run miles and miles to get started on our New Year’s resolution to lose weight and get fit! Yeah? Nah…me neither. I’m not much of a runner but walking I like. I’ll walk the globe and walk your dog. My best memories were when out walking the dogs as they loved to sniff every blade of grass, greet anything that moved in the great outdoors, and run frolicking on ahead. Once they encountered a coyote pup and played a bit! And taking baby Lucky Cricket out with us was the best. It is so magical to see the world all over again through a child’s eyes: oh look! you’ve found a stick….and a rock…and a LOOK! A LADYBUG!!! I don’t know who got more excited, me or her. Good times.
I wish I had a photo to post but I didn’t bring the camera and that right there is a resolution for walkies: camera and sketchbook to accompany me/us in this journey. The best years of my life are yet to come…Happy New Year loves.
It snowed – yeah! And now I have to dig out the car – boo! It appears I may be the only one living here in possession of a shovel so perhaps I can rent it out?
Here is something that still irks me: for years I single-handedly dug out our cul de sac in the old neighborhood without so much as a “thank you” from anyone. Yet the ex finally buys a snowblower and clears it in about 5 minutes and he is showered with thanks and a gift of scotch! Someone please explain…
Awwww…don’t these two look cute? I drove past the Littleton Museum this morning and decided to have a walk around. I used to bring the dogs on the trail here and find just staring at farm animals in the silent, foggy morning relaxing.
While Irene eats an advent calendar chocolate for breakfast every morning, it isn’t the holiday season at my home unless you are working on a puzzle during the countdown to Christmas! Have a look at this new and unopened (no missing pieces!) Windswept Traveler puzzle I found at Goodwill.
It is all spread out on the dining table so I guess we’ll be eating in our laps or standing over the sink in the kitchen? oh well. There is a whole lotta white in this puzzle so thank goodness I have a 7 yr old to help me. Lucky Cricket sat down this morning all sleepy-eyed and immediately put together several pieces I had been wrestling with.
I have to be careful to limit my daily exposure to puzzles as they make me all cray-cray but eventually I get it all finished. 16 more days until Christmas!
Okay I think I was awake for approximately an hour before I finally realized the outside world was encased in snow again! I actually like snow – I really do – yet this season of snow has made me grumpy because now that I am divorced, I am parking outdoors and have to allow time in my already busy morning to clean off the car and then white-knuckle it on the roads for an hour or so to get anywhere. And why am I surprised to see snow this time of year? I have pictures of a blizzard that buried our home May 10, 2003 and another of lucky cricket wearing a sundress and playing in deep hail July 25, 2008 so I better smarten up already! Anyhoo…Spring officially begins Sunday – yeah! And I like to see sturdy shoots sprouting up beneath the snow – what troopers!
